Teeth whitening. When this procedure cannot be performed?
Teeth cannot be whitened when enamel is worn or when having gum inflammation or periodontitis. This procedure is not recommended for pregnant women, breastfeeding women and for children and teenagers up to 18 years old. It is worth to know that sealants and crowns cannot be whitened, so after whitening procedure they should be changed or corrected.

Teeth whitening at home
Following patients’ teeth impressions, individual molds are manufactured. Whitening molds are transparent splints which exactly match the form of a patient teeth. Whitening gel is injected into the mold and injected mold is put on teeth for the night or a shorter period of time (it depends on whitening material concentration). During whitening only teeth color changes, tooth structure remains unchanged.
Endodontic single tooth whitening
It is whitening procedure of endodontically treated teeth (“dead teeth). If the tooth color has changed after a canal treatment, such tooth can be whitened by using gel, which is injected into tooth cavity and tooth is sealed with temporary sealant. Whitening process lasts from 2 to 4 days. If tooth color is not white enough, the procedure can be repeated.
How long teeth remain white after whitening procedure?
Teeth can remain white about a year, if you properly care of your oral hygiene. Every few years the whitening procedure may be repeated, if you often consume products with dyeing materials (tobacco, red wine, coffee, etc.).
